The physics of star formation

Stars are the building blocks of our Universe. Not only do they synthetise all heavy elements such as carbon and oxygen, but they heat and energetise their surrounding medium and host planets, the cradle of life. Understanding star formation is therefore of broad and fundamental interest in astrophysics and beyond. Yet it is an extremely rich multi-scale and multi-physics process which entails several field of knowledge in interaction. The purpose of the school is to educate a new generation of scientists working in this field, the necessary basics to make progress in this field.
