MicroSEA: Microbial Sea Eukaryotes - Summer course 2026

7-13 juin 2026
Roscoff marine station - FRANCE - Roscoff (France)

https://opbc.sciencesconf.org

The MicroSEA course is designed to introduce students and early-career researchers to state-of-the-art techniques and approaches to isolate and study protists at the single-cell level. Through lectures, practicals and discussions, attendees will get a synthetic overview of the diversity and life strategies of major lineages, highlighting recent impactful studies on marine protists that have changed our view of marine ecosystems. As part of the course, participants will actively design and develop their own research projects, gaining hands-on experience with both fieldwork and laboratory techniques. They will learn a range of methods—including sampling, flow cytometry, single-cell isolation, culturing, advanced microscopy, and molecular analyses—focused on specific marine protists. To conclude the course, participants will define new perspectives and challenges in the field of protistology.
