Foreign Language Learners : A European and International Dialogue
12-12 déc. 2025
INSPE de Paris, 10 Rue Molitor - Paris (France)
This conference day aims to foster a European and international dialogue on foreign language learning, from early childhood to higher education and beyond. It seeks to explore how language learning and teaching evolve across ages, contexts, and pedagogical approaches, and how these dimensions intersect with questions of multilingualism, CLIL/EMI practices, and teacher education.
Building on the work carried out within the ALDIFOR project (Étude des Appropriations Linguistiques et Disciplinaires en contexte plurilingue pour la Formation), this event highlights the importance of connecting research, teacher education, and classroom practice in plurilingual and international contexts. As ALDIFOR underlines, understanding how languages and disciplines are jointly appropriated requires close collaboration between researchers and practitioners, and a continuous dialogue between national and international perspectives. The talks will bring together scholars working on language learning across the lifespan — from very young learners to adult and lifelong learners — to share findings, reflect on methods, and exchange views on how learning contexts, learner age, and educational goals shape language acquisition.
