2nd International Workshop on Smart Metal Reject Reduction and Energy (2nd IWSMR2)
3-5 déc. 2025
City University of Cairo, Badr city, Cairo Governorate 11757, Egypt - Cairo (Égypte)
In the context of Industry 4.0, the International Workshop on Metal Smart Reject Reduction and Energy will explore how digital tools and the connection of equipment can help metal and material processing industries improve reliability, increase productivity, and lower their environmental impact. A key focus is the reduction of rejects caused by product defects and non-conformity, which have important technical and economic effects. The workshop will also address process optimization, energy efficiency, and system reliability as essential factors for building more sustainable and competitive manufacturing. Researchers and industry experts will share new solutions based on the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), data analytics, artificial intelligence, and predictive modeling. Using case studies and high-accuracy simulations, participants will examine smart maintenance methods, risk assessment approaches, and integrated strategies to reduce rejects in modern production environments. The event is jointly organized by : 1- DIFIA Lab, Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue (UQAT, Canada), 2- Saint Mary's University (SMU, Canada), 3- Université Française d'Égypte (UFE, Egypt), 4- City University of Cairo (CUC, Egypt). Conference Themes : • Reduction of reject rates caused by product non-conformity and defects in metal and material processing • Smart predictive maintenance strategies for industrial systems • Risk assessment methodologies across production chains • Innovative digital solutions leveraging the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) • Industrial data analytics and applied artificial intelligence • Experimental case studies and advanced numerical simulations • Process optimization, energy efficiency, and system reliability • Transition toward a more sustainable and connected industry
