SPEGEO : Structure-Preserving Algorithms and Geometric Numerical Integration school
22-26 juin 2026
Centre culturel Saint-Thomas - Strasbourg (France)
The numerical resolution of mathematical models used to describe realistic physical phenomena is often difficult. This is because the dynamics of the unknowns (such as density or temperature) are governed by non-linear partial differential equations based on complex geometries. However, the models often possess special properties: symmetry, conservations, Hamiltonian structure, dissipation... In order to obtain better quality numerical solutions, especially over long timescales, it is important to preserve these mathematical structures in numerical methods. The aim of this school is to introduce various recent methods and algorithms that have been developed in this spirit of preserving certain structures of the underlying model.
