Conditional Constructs Across World Languages
29-31 oct. 2025
Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Internationales [INALCO], 65 rue des Grands Moulins, Paris - Paris (France)
This international conference seeks to provide a forum for an in-depth discussion of the range of ways in which natural languages express conditionality worldwide. Conditional constructions have primarily been examined by logicians and, to a lesser extent, linguists. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to collate the typological features of conditional constructs present in languages from various language families, each exhibiting unique characteristics. The secondary objective is to uncover novel, extensive cross-linguistic patterns and enhance our comprehension of conditionality across typologically and geographically divergent language families worldwide.
