After the success of the 2024 edition centered on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the socio-economic context, KID-2025 summer school will focus on AI and the production of scientific and technological knowledge. Investigating how AI affects knowledge production is emerging as a crucial subject of interest among scholars, and it also emerged as one of the main subjects of students’ discussions during the KID past edition. Therefore, at KID-2005, students will learn about the current empirical and theoretical work studying how AI fosters scientific research (Appenzeller, 2017; Bianchini et al., 2022; OECD, 2020) and innovation (Antonioli et al., 2024; Cockburn et al., 2018). Moreover, the discussion will tackle the potential policy interventions required to govern the diffusion of AI in the countries’ scientific and technological landscape (Agrawal et al., 2019) and the consequences of the emergence of AI on the researchers’ labor market (Ahmed et al., 2023). The debate that KID-2025 aims to animate is particularly relevant in the French institutional context due to the French government's recent investment in AI knowledge creation and diffusion (Agrawal et al., 2019). At KID-2025, students will also learn to use AI as a research tool (Furman and Teodoridis, 2020). Continuing its longstanding tradition, KID will offer students lectures from outstanding scholars and an arena to present their ongoing work. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of AI, KID-2025 aims to attract students from disciplines other than economics and management, such as sociology, engineering, and computer science.
