First International Symposium on Smart Materials for Energyefficient Built Environment Control
10-11 juin 2025
ESPCI Paris - Paris (France)
Energy consumption for heating, cooling, and indoor air quality (IAQ) management is a major driver of
global energy demand. Smart materials like metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), phase change materials
(PCMs), and hydrogels can enhance energy and mass transport, boosting the efficiency of heating,
cooling, air purification (e.g., VOCs removal), and thermal storage technologies. Experts in building
science, chemistry, materials science, and HVAC engineering collaborate to advance the theory and
applications of these materials for energy-efficient building environmental control.
