The "Annual Meeting of Landscape Ecology" brings together scientists eager to share advances in Landscape Ecology research. A key feature of this symposium is its ability to unite researchers from diverse disciplines (Ecology, Geography, Humanities, Social Sciences, etc.) alongside territorial planners under the shared concept of human-nature relationship. Its goal is to structure the community around significant disciplinary advancements and enhance its visibility within national and international research networks. Since its inception, the REP has facilitated numerous collaborative and interdisciplinary projects.
The highlight of REP25 will be the celebration of the establishment of the French chapter of the International Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE-FR). On November 27, 2023, the French landscape ecology community formally organized itself by creating the IALE-FR association, a branch of the European Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE-Europe: iale-europe.eu/pattern-and-process-people-and-action). IALE-FR is also integrated into France's largest scientific ecology association, the French Ecological Society (SFE²: sfecologie.org/). To mark this milestone, we are hosting our first annual meeting in Strasbourg and warmly invite the European community to join us for this three-day event.
The 2025 annual meeting will take place in Strasbourg. It aims to foster exchanges through scientific communications with plenary sessions, discussion sessions, topic workshops, speed-speech sessions, poster sessions, and an exhibition.
In line with global challenges, the annual meeting will focus on the following themes (anticipated sessions):
- Landscape ecology and climate change: issues and observations
- Nature-based solutions, their integration into landscapes, and their ecological impact
- Aquatic landscape ecology: the (socio)hydro systems
- Green infrastructures: roles, functions, and challenges
- Urban landscape ecology
- Socio-ecology of the landscape
- Landscape architects' ecology: aesthetics and value of landscapes
- Landscapes, common to humans and non-humans (conceptual session)
Tools for landscape characterization and analysis will have more deeply discussed during the topic workshops.
