51 Peg b 30th Birthday: Cool Giant Exoplanets & Their Systems
6-10 oct. 2025
Observatoire de Haute Provence - Saint Michel l'Observatoire (France)
Thirty years after the discovery of the first exoplanet around a solar-type star, 51 Peg b, the field has tremendously progressed and revealed a diversity of worlds that was totally unexpected. To celebrate this anniversary, the OHP 2025 Colloquium will focus on giant exoplanets and their systems. Indeed, these 30 years have revealed long-period planets through radial velocities, while major instrumental improvements have enabled to start probing similar parts of the parameters with imaging around young systems. The arrival of the fourth release of Gaia in 2025 now promises to reveal a whole population of Jupiter-type planets orbiting at a few astronomical units from their stars. At the same time, interferometry and direct high-resolution spectroscopy have been used to probe the orbital parameters and atmospheric properties of young giant exoplanets.
