The KogWis 2025 aims at providing a platform to foster the exchange of ideas among researchers working on different subfields of cognitive science across Europe. The conference will have a thematic focus, namely Flexible Minds: Situated and Comparative Perspectives. We have increasing evidence that, in order to understand cognitive processes that are realized in biological and artificial systems, a shift in perspective is needed. We have to account for the active role of the bodily or artificial system as well as of the physical and social environment in shaping cognition. This new conceptual framework of situated cognition meets another recent development, namely the explosion of flexible cognition in recent intelligent robotics based on deep learning.
