International Conference on The Impact of Soil Amendments on Dryland Agro-Ecosystems

Drylands cover 41 percent of the Earth's land surface (UNCCD, 2017). Food production in these regions is affected by extreme conditions, including low soil fertility and water scarcity. To enhance the sustainability of these agroecosystems, soil amendments can be employed to enrich the soil and improve its production potential. However, amendments can vary in terms of origin, composition, use practices and frequency of application, and their effects are not always easy to demonstrate. The objective of this conference is to: Provide a platform for the exchange of research results and experiences among scientists Evaluate the approaches used to produce and apply soil amendments at all scales Promote international cooperation in developing strategies to address the challenge of sustainable use of soil amendment in drylands.
