Glass for a sustainable future: How can glass scientists help meet the challenge ?

The ICG SpringSchool 2024 will bring together the experts (both industry and academia) from TC 03, 05, 07, 09, and 18 communities under one roof to discuss the cross-cutting questions/issues that cover the scope of multiple technical committees of the ICG. The 5-day event will be organized in a School format. With the aim of establishing a strong link between the problems/challenges of decarbonization and the possible scientific and industrial solutions, we will be mixing lectures devoted to industrial issues and academic knowledge that can enable progress towards sustainable development in the glass industry. Lectures and discussions will cover topics related to glass manufacturing (raw materials, formulation, recycling, foaming, redox, viscosity, chemical reactivity at temperature) in the various glass furnace technologies (flat glass, hollow glass, fiberglass, nuclear glass, opal glass, glass ceramics). The challenges and solutions of industrial glass makers will also be presented.
