Over the past few decades, the world experienced a growing obesity epidemic which profoundly reduces quality of life for those affected. Hence, it became a public health challenge across the globe. The danger of Obesity lies in their contribution to many other comorbidities, including diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and cardiovascular disease. However, growing evidence shows that it is as much about the surrounding environment we live in as the individuals choices we are able to make. Obesity is particularly a real danger for young people and the socially disadvantaged communities. And It is increasing with such tenacity that we must act now and act quickly Sport and Physical activity play an important role in the prevention of becoming overweight and obese in childhood and adolescence, while it reduces the risk of obesity in adulthood. Globally, it is estimated that sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity is the fourth risk factor for noncommunicable diseases causing between 3.2 and 5 million deaths per year in the world, Running, in particular, is one of those sports with multiple benefits that lead to strong health. It is no coincidence that on average runners are less sick than others. Without going into details, Scientific studies are multiplying and show that running is preventive against a lot of disease, and can even have a curative effect in some cases. The International days of sport and obesity which will be organized by the IMS is an important step aiming to raise awareness on obesity and encouraging commitment of students, employees, and faculties in physical activity. To close the conference, the IMS wants to take a leadership role in the organization of the Running Race for health and will continue to do so in the future for the benefit of the city of Kenitra.
