Statistical Seismology International Conference (StatSei 12)

The International Statistical Seismology (StatSei) conference is a well-established biennial meeting focusing on recent developments in statistical seismology. The meetings cover a series of topics, including statistical descriptions of earthquake occurrences, rupture / failure processes, both in situ and in the lab, heterogeneous tectonic environments (faults, fault zone structures) pertaining to earthquake processes, The ultimate goal of these approaches is to improve our understanding of the complex, instable process leading to earthquake ruptures. A natural development is also to design forecasting models which allow constraining probabilities of earthquake occurrences.
