Theatre and the City

The 30th Annual CDE Conference will investigate how theatre and the city interact productively and how contemporary Anglophone theatre and performance have redefined the rich and complex meaning of urbanity, blurring borders between centre and periphery, street and stage, performer and spectator. It will explore the ways urban theatrical communities develop in the context of global and cosmopolitan cities. Privileged topics will include: urban dramaturgies, immersive performance, smaert cities and stages, intersetional represenatations (queer, ethnic, racial, gender, class...), urban theatrical and political dissent, global performances and theaters (migrant creativity, eco-performances...).
